Pop up ads and comments

A couple of people have warned me that they're having trouble accessing my blog, especially to leave comments. I'm not sure what's going on, but I think it may be to do with pop-up ads.
There's a link here about someone else with a similar problem. Has anyone else had problems - there are a couple of other Blogger knitting blogs I've read where I've had pop up ads appear when trying to comment, I'd assumed it was something the owner had switched on, but possibly not.

In the meantime, I think the Google toolbar and most anti-virus type software can block pop-up ads?

It's fine today - and there's no pop-ups. Bizarre.

I have just had an advertisement pop up, but I have my pop up blocker switched off for Blogger sites so that I can comment, so that's my choice and I'm fine with it. It only happens on a handful Blogger sites out of the many I visit. Hope you can figure out why it's happening!

I tend to get pop-ups from your site too. My blocker keeps out everything else, but the ones from here. It's only occasionally though, so it's not too annoying.

firefox tends to block two pop ups as soon as I go to your site, and there is one that gets through. That's when i'm on college high security settings, but it also happens on my mac at home. It's just when access your blog (not commenting) and I never get it with any other blog. I figured it wasn't something you'd planned so had been thinking about telling you - hope you get it sorted. Maybe email blogger - I doubt they are doing it deliberatly either

You do have popups on your blog, like the previous commentor, I get two, one blocked by firefox and another that gets through. And like her it's not associated with commenting, just when the page loads.

Many 'free' blog/website addons come with conditions buried in tiny little paragraphs that they will serve pop-up ads. Also, to get even sneakier, they will use cookies to selectively choose when to pop-up. For instance, as the owner you probably had a cookie set so that you would NEVER see the pop-up, but visitors to your blog might get them every 3 or so visits...making it harder to track down.

The culprits from what I see at a glance are probably your free hit counters. You have two, and either one (or both) are probably the culprit. You got one from easy-hit-counters ( I seem to remember dealing with them before but can't confirm it) and the other is from webstats4u, a KNOWN server of popups (see Free web statistics? Don’t count on it." - Not my site)

I would remove both and use a known quality free statistics service, www.sitemeter.com and www.statcounter.com are 2 of the most popular and they never serve ads on your blog.

I hate pop-ups. I hope this helps. :-)
I came here via your google-group question, but those guys weren't even looking.

I just viewed your blog in both IE and FireFox and did not receive any popups.
