Tonsils off on a jolly...

Hmm, the new NHS computer system is behaving in silly fashion. I wonder if that explains the sudden increase in the ENT waiting list? Anyway, my tonsils have gone on a celebratory jolly after learning of yesterday's (hopefully temporary) reprieve. Yes, I have tonsillitis AGAIN! Monkey is still trying to be helpful and offering to take them out for me:

I'm not sure what purpose the banana is meant to serve. Is it Roald Dahl's "Boy" where the older brother gets his tonsils taken out on the kitchen table? Or did I imagine it? Haven't read it since primary school. Anyway, I have pointed out to Monkey that we don't have a kitchen table, so he can't take them out...

And a neighbour's cat dropped round to keep me company:

I'm not sure where it lives, but I didn't let it stay too long (don't want it get funny ideas about where it lives). Well, I do, but cat-napping is a very bad thing to do. Obviously. Ahem.

And WIP finishing is on a roll! I finished Hedera:

This is the Hedera sock pattern from Knitty. Yarn used is Trekking XXL in colour 12 (from my SP6 exchange partner, Amy, last year) using 2.25mm needles. I seem to have been knitting these for ages as I was doing them on holiday in June, but I got distracted by some other things, like moving house! The yarn isn't quite as variegated as it appears in the above pic!

Also, I took part in a discussion about ethical yarn sourcing on the Knittyboard a few weeks ago and now Tara (who runs a online shop called "Blonde Chicken Boutique" has started up a Google group to carry on talking about ethical crafting ideas. If anybody wants to read more, or to join, the link is here. It's very quiet at the moment...

Oh, Daisy, get well soon. I must go and investiagte that group. Still haven't had a reply from Rowan re the source of the soy in tapestry, so think I might send them another copy of the letter but enclosing a stamped addressed envelope this time. and perhaps a link to an article about me that appeared in Varsity (Cambridge Uni's student newspaper) a couple of summers ago, so that they know that I mix with young opinion formers.

Bad Tonsils, Bad Tonsils. As Ruth said last night, "This not what my need".

(But perhaps Monkey should consider which A-levels to take to support his application to study medicine ... I'm not sure which boards offer A-level bananas... but if he wants to operate I do think he should get properly qualified.)

Pretty pretty hedera.

Hope you feel better soon and that you'll soon be parted from those tonsils as that seems to be the only option that's going to give you some relief! Glad to hear about the angel in the previous post - very good news! :-)

Sorry your tonsils are playing up once again, fingers crossed for the appointment to be very soon.

I'd watch that monkey if I were you, he has a manic glint in his eye :-)

The Hedera socks look lovely!

You may find monkey would do a better job. Hope they're not giving you too much grief and that you feel better soon.

I'm sorry you're ill again. Begone foul tonsils! Hedera socks are gorgeous, I love that yarn. Good link too, we should maybe all try a little harder to live ethically. Or a lot harder in my case!

The socks are fab.

I think you should let Monkey have a go. You're clearly stifling his innate quest for knowledge!

Seriously though, I do hope this outbreak is over quickly and that somehow the NHS can get itself in gear and sort you out sooner rather than later.

Your Hedera socks are gorgeous! Sorry your tonsils are playing up again - my daughter has had repeated tonsillitis all of her life and they refuse to take them out. I think Monkey was trying to distract you with the banana so that he could whip your out in a flash.

Those tonsils, they are so naughty. I'm sure Monkey means well but I don't know if I would trust a doctor holding a banana in one hand :)
I hope you feel better soon kiddo.
Those socks are beautiful, by the way.

I think it was an appendix, rather than tonsils that were taken out on the kitchen table in Roald Dahl's 'Boy'. I forget whether it was his brother or sister who was the victim.

Roald did, however, have his adenoids removed without warning whilst in a dentist's chair. Was that what you were thinking of?

Tell those tonsils of your's to be patient until you are a patient and they can go to their rest.

Hope you feel better soon.
