Twitter

So, there I was, reading blogs, when I stumbled over the Yarn Harlot talking about Twitter. Now I'd read about Twitter, but mainly in incredibly dull librarian things that don't inspire me to go and investigate further. But if the Yarn Harlot's doing it it's got to be cool, right? So I investigated and discovered exciting things like several other online friends using it, plus Stephen Fry, plus the Today programme and Greenpeace. Then I joined in myself.

I don't think my updates have changed the world. Was anyone actually interested in my desperate hunt for paracetamol in the event of Extreme On The Blobness Galloping Gut Rot? Or the headache-that-turned-into-a-migraine? Or the fact that I'd arrived at work and it was raining? Probably not. But I like other people's updates!

In other news. I've just started reading "Everyman" by Philip Roth, for reading group, although I'll miss the meeting for this one as I'll be on holiday. Ironically the only copy left was the large print one, which caused great hilarity among the other members, almost all of whom are a good 40 years older than me! When do you read books? I'm trying to keep the time I get to bed for reading books, and to keep reading newspapers and magazines to other times, but I always seem to end up with a backlog at the end of each week!

Most of my files are now on Claudius, although a few remain on Caligula, and I haven't tackled Nero yet... I haven't worked out how I want the file structure to look yet, so things are in weird places. Knitting pics seem to have ended up in a variety of folders, so I'm having trouble finding things!

I've unearthed the pics of White Lightning (but in green):

finished for a swop before Christmas. A quick and also fun knit! I used 2 skeins of Debbie Bliss Cathay, which feels lovely.
Just before Christmas I discovered Folksy (thanks to Nic!) which is like Etsy but in the UK. I bought a bag like this as a Christmas present from Nic's shop and have since been stalking various other exciting items!

Oooh, I think that may have done it - I've been toying with joining Twitter myself (not least my 'best' recent blog posts are nearly as brief as twitters anyway)...

Who, me? A joiner? Surely not...

(btw my verification word is 'brasms' - that really ought to mean something!)

Love that green lightning scarf. And welcome to twitter. Will you believe that being on twitter has actually made me keep my blog up to date better.

DH bullied me into joining Twitter a week or so ago. While I don't tweet often, I do update it (and it is set to auto update my Facebook as well). So far, I have the most fun seeing what Himself is up to. ;) And I thought he was working!

No matter how I struggle, technology continues to suck me in!

Love the scarf, it is quite lovely.

Good old Twitter, eh? Who'd have thought that last week I'd not really heard of it, this week I am getting updates on what Philip Scofield, Andi Peters and Gordon the Gopher are up to...and Gordon is following me too.....

I love your scarf. I may have to add that to my ever growing queue.

I have tried to get back into the habit of going to bed and reading books since the New Year. The only problem is that, even though I go to bed in good time, before I know it, it is gone midnight and I'm still reading. No newspapers in bed for me, although I sometimes read the weekend mags on a Saturday night if I go out and buy the paper.

Twitter's fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously.

I get large-print books from the library a lot, simply because if it's a title with a long waitlist, the large-print version is usually faster to get. People don't think about requesting that one.

Thanks for your chicken advice. I'll have to find you on Twitter. I'm Andiedramaqueen - craftydramaqueen was too long! Lovely scarf.

Have sent you a request on Twitter, I joined yesterday :-) Mostly, it has to be said, for Stephen Fry.

The scarf looks really lovely in the green Cathay.

As for reading, at the moment it tends to be books at bedtime although I don't have a "proper" book on the go at the moment. Have been reading much Gaiman recently and might have a change to Elizabeth Gaskell next!

I do like your names for laptops, I would expect Claudius to be well behaved in comparison to Caligula :-D

Oooh, White Lightning is gorgeous!

I read books in bed usually, and as I read them to relax in order to fall asleep it takes me quite a while to finish them ;)

Thanks for the link to Folksy, will have to take a good look around there.
